IDI-PASAI held a 5 day workshop in June 2023 on the key lessons from an independent quality assurance review on the completed Financial Statements of Government (FSG) audits. The workshop was held in Suva, Fiji, and was attended by 21 representatives from SAIs in the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Samoa. Then Audit Manager Malili Chou Lee and Audit Principal Velmar Levasa attended from the Samoa SAI, the Samoa Audit Office.

The jointly provided and facilitated programme focused on ensuring participating member SAIs can sustainably plan, execute, and report on their government audits in accordance with international standards.

PASAI and IDI provided SAI-level support of FSG audits in compliance with ISSAIs in a programme that started in 2020. An independent quality assurance review (QAR) on the completed FSG audits and areas of improvements identified during the QAR were discussed.  The workshop discussed solutions and PASAI/IDI interventions to address areas of improvements highlighted. Participants were also given an opportunity to develop a sustainability plan for maintaining an ISSAI compliant FSG audit in the future.
