Earlier this year, our SPCS Manager Annie Frances Leitupo represented our office at the 158th International Training Programme (ITP) on the Audit of State Owned Enterprises in New Delhi, India.

The month-long training conducted by the International Centre for Information Systems and Audits (ICISA) in India covered a comprehensive list of topics crucial for auditing in the public sector. Covering international standards, financial reporting, and emerging trends like data analytics, participants gained insights into auditing practices tailored to state-owned entities. Through case studies and discussions on parliamentary control, attendees explored practical challenges and global best practices, enhancing their skills in ensuring accountability and transparency in public sector audits.

Ms. Leitupo was one of three participants selected by ICISA to speak at the graduation ceremony on behalf of all participants. Her address summarized hers and her fellow participants' experiences. Reflecting on them, Ms. Leitupo remarked, "The training programs were very insightful and informative, touching on areas of audit including compliance, financial, performance, environmental, and information systems." Ms. Leitupo also commended the inclusive nature of the program, stating, "We have a diverse group of participants that not only work for Supreme Audit Institutions but also in various sectors, which made the sessions more enriching." Ms. Leitupo also highlighted her great honor to be chosen to speak as the sole representative of the Pacific region.

We are grateful to the instructors, facilitators, and ICISA for this training program, and the insights gained for the advancement of public sector governance in Samoa.
