Our Special Audits Director, Faamoetauloa Ah Siu Lin, attended a 5-day training session on the Public Expenditure Financial Accountability (PEFA) program that ended 3rd November 2023.

The training was held locally at the MOF and was conducted by the Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Centre (PFTAC) through their PFM Advisor, Mr. Paul Seeds.

PFTAC was established in 1993 to promote macro-financial stability in the Pacific island countries through a focused program of technical assistance, training and capacity development. The goal of the organisation is to strengthen the institutional capacity of Pacific countries to design and implement sound macroeconomic and financial policies - the essential underpinnings for sustainable economic growth and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.

As Samoa progresses in implementing its PFM reforms, the training becomes significantly relevant in gauging the success of these initiatives. It also offered an up-to-date perspective on our public finance sector's progress in implementing these reforms. The insights gained contribute to a more informed and comprehensive evaluation of Samoa's public financial management performance.

The knowledge gained through Faamoetauloa's participation in this training will be crucial in guiding our Office in supporting government efforts in achieving the objectives outlined in our nation's Finance Sector Plan 2023-2027. We appreciate and thank Mr. Paul Seeds, PFTAC, and MOF for this opportunity.
