The Assistant Controller and Auditor General (ACAG), Vaofusi Leaula Terence Su’a and Audit Director of Communications & Stakeholder Relations Division, Nafanua Tualatamalelagi attended the Communications Liaison Officers Network (CLON) Workshop 2023 on 28th February 2023 at TATTE Conference Room Level 1 from 930am to 1240pm.

This network was started 3 years ago with the purpose to engage with CLOs in working together with regards to information sharing. The network will allow familiarity amongst CLOs with regards to ensuring transparency and accountability with information portrayed to the media and the public. It also gave the Press Secretariat Division (PSD) of Ministry of Prime Minister and Cabinet (MPMC) the opportunity to further elaborate on its roles and responsibilities towards government agencies and other important stakeholders. They re-iterated their role to receive information from government agencies and share them to the media and the public.

The outcomes from the previous forums had weaknesses that were identified including movement of employees which was a barrier to communication and a few other weaknesses. The forum heard from the staff who are involved with the Savali Unit on their operations and intentions. They welcome government agencies to bring in their advertisements and video ads with their PSD as they expand their services.

The key note speaker by CEO MPMC, Agafili Shem Leo also touched on the challenge on how the public servants can reach and penetrate the actual citizens that are making decisions at the village level (i faiganuu a matai, ekalesia ma tupulaga lalovaoa).
