For two days (23rd & 24th September 2021) Samoa was on lockdown for health authorities to administer door-to-door vaccines as part of a mass vaccination drive. Vaccination teams were mobilized around the country with the goal to vaccinate at least 99% of the eligible population with their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The public service workforce was also called on to join these vaccination teams that were dispatched to villages in Upolu and Savaii. The majority of the Samoa Audit Office staff, including the CAG, volunteered and joined the vaccination efforts as data entry officers. Many SAO volunteers had experience as volunteers in the government's last mass vaccination strategy in 2019 during the measles outbreak.
As a result of this campaign, 93.3% of the eligible population received their first dose and 46.6% were fully vaccinated.
The Samoa Audit Office commends the health sector and all the volunteers for all their hard work
