The Controller and Auditor General, Fuimaono Mata'afa Papalii C. G. Afele, along with representatives of 32 other countries' SAIs, virtually attended the 74th Meeting of the INTOSAI Governing Board.

Held virtually for the very first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was hosted by the INTOSAI General Secretariat on November 10, 2020. The meeting was chaired by the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation and moderated by the INTOSAI General Secretariat.

The Governing Board Meeting discussed and reached important decisions on safeguarding INTOSAI operations during and post-pandemic, on implementing progressive projects to shape the organisation's future, as well as capacity building projects, and standard setting framework.

The themes for the INCOSAI XXIV to be held in Brazil in 2022 was also approved by the Governing Board members:- Theme 1: "The Work of Supreme Audit Institutions in the Context of Public Calamities," and; Theme 2: "Global Voice, Global Outcome, Far Reaching Impact."

Adaptations and recommendations were made to INTOSAI meeting procedures that enable formal decision-making using a virtual format. INTOSAI is planning  for promising advancements in digitalized capacity building, education and knowledge sharing, including the launch of an "INTOSAI Digital University."
