Among the patriotic people of Samoa, were the staff members of the Samoa Audit Office that gathered from 4am to witness the Independence Flag Ceremony at Tiafau Mulinuu on Saturday, 1st of June 2019.

The Ceremony was led by a short prayer service by Reverend Faulalo Leti, General Secretary Methodist Church of Samoa. The National Anthem was played by the Police Band as schools, organisations, government officers and the public paused for the raising of the flag by the Member of the Council of Deputies, Le Mamea Ropati Mualia together with the 21 gun salute. The Head of State His Highness Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II gave the address for the day. He thanked the almighty God for the abundant blessings upon our nation as well as all government offices, development partners and the public. A few milestones and accomplishments were acknowledged including the Samoa Cable, aerobridge at the Faleolo International Airport and the Apia Waterfront Project. The hard work of women and youths in our society was acknowledged. The contribution of the private sector has been the backbone of Samoa's economy. His Highness ended his speech by asking the Lord for continuous blessings upon our nation.

The parade then followed featuring schools, organisations and government offices. 

Dance performances were to follow with the program to be finished by 3.30pm with the lowering of the Flag ceremony.
