Office of the Regulator visited Samoa Audit Office on 8th of May 2019 for awareness of staff on the Digital Terrestrial TV Project. This project is to convert terrestrial television services from analog to digital technology.
This will ensure clearer images on TV with no disruptions and interferences. It will also allow the public to access more channels for viewing. In order to access the digital technology, a set top box (STB) is required. This will convert analog signals to digital signals. There is no need to purchase a STB though if your television is DVB-T2 enabled. The STB will be made available for purchase at various retails once the costing and funding is approved.
The benefits of switching to digital television not only create more job opportunities with more industries but also resource management, access to new digital services and local skills.
