Norris (Director for Special Audit) & Fetu (Director for Legal & Compliance Audit) attended a workshop for IntoSAINT Moderator in Wellington, NZ. Into-SAINT (Self Assessment of Integrity) is an initiative originally created by the Netherlands Court of Audit and adopted by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) to support SAIs as models of integrity, transparency and accountability.
IntoSAINT is a self-assessment tool that SAIs –and any public sector organization in general– can use for analyzing their integrity risks and assessing the maturity of their integrity management systems. The main purpose was to have a tool that allowed public institutions to improve their institutional integrity management. Based on the results obtained, the NCA adapted this tool to the specific nature, mandate and needs of audit institutions. Thus, since 2010, the members of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) recognize this tool by the name IntoSAINT.
Norris & Fetu successfully completed the training and are now certified moderators for this program. They assisted in the IntoSAINT assessment of the Office of the Auditor General of NZ to identify and evaluate their vulnerability against integrity breaches. One of our Office Strategic key goals is to 'effectively manage and develop our human resources'. In stimulating this, Samoa Audit Office will be assessed by external moderators from NZ using IntoSAINT tool in June. SAO will be the first SAI of the Pacific together with Cook Islands to be assessed using this international assessment tool for the betterment of the organization. After our assessment in June, SAO will roll out this tool and use it to assess integrity in our public sector if things flow according to plan.
