The ‘Sharpening your Teeth-Advanced Investigative Training for Administrative Watchdogs’ was attended by Ah Siu and Annie of the Samoa Audit Office (SAO) in Brisbane, Australia on the 18th – 22nd March 2019. The training program was conducted by the Office of the Ombudsman from Ontario, Canada.
The training covered the process of conducting thorough investigations and writing strong and persuasive reports about the investigations. It focused on problem solving and effective communications such as how to access, assess and review evidence, identifying issues, making acceptable recommendations as well as ensuring the efficient and effective relationships with stakeholders through strategic communications. These coincide with key goals of our Strategic Plan; to ‘Maintain & Further Strengthen our Independence' and 'Strengthening Communications & Relationships with Stakeholders'. SAO sincerely thank the Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman for sponsoring this training and the Office of the Ombudsman of Canada for sharing their experiences and ideas to develop better investigative works.
