The latest Samoa Audit Office Information Paper and Appendix for all its stakeholders on the current and future status of its accounts, audits and reports to Parliament. This should also provide a better understanding of the role, functions, and procedures of the Samoa Audit Office including its communication of audit results interfacing and overlapping with Parliamentary procedures and protocols.

||Audit Examiner, Venus Iosefa, received a letter of commendation from the Samoan Prime Minister, Hon. Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi for her work in last month's UN SIDS Conference where she was the Liaison Officer for the Canadian delegation.
The High Commissioner of Canada, HE Caroline Chrétien, wrote directly to the Samoan Prime Minister praising Miss Iosefa's diligence and professionalism which left a huge impression.
The Canadian delegation was headed by the Parliamentary Secretary to Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. David Anderson.

3rd International Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Conference
As part of the national effort in ensuring the SIDS Conference (1 - 4 September) is a success, some staff of the Samoa Audit Office are part of the numerous government volunteers working with the SIDS Secretariat in various areas including accreditation, information technology, liaison officer duties, media and general/secretarial services.

Acting Controller and Auditor General (Public Bodies), Violet Roebeck-Fasavalu, represented the Controller and Auditor General and the Audit Office as part of the guest speakers Business and Economic Reporting Workshop Accountability Panel. Violet gave an oversight on what we do at the Audit Office which included our Strategic plan and products and key results of the Samoa Audit Office.
Other panel members included the Assistant Ombudsman and the Editor of Samoa Observer.
The Controller and Auditor General through Violet had conveyed his best wishes to the panel for their undertaking.

Pacific Audit offices face the same challenges as Australia and New Zealand when conducting environmental audits like complex subjects, understanding and obtaining relevant environmental data; multi-agency environment in environmental matters and making the best use of experts.
The next meeting is expected to focus on the role of regulatory agencies in the environment sector, including compliance and enforcement.

Assistant Controller and Auditor General (Public Bodies), Violet Roebeck-Fasavalu (second from left) and Audit Director, Sita Leota (second from right) represented the Samoa Audit Office at the XXIV Commonwealth Auditors General Conference in Malta.
The conference was entitled "Securing independence of Supreme Audit Institutions" which aimed at improving the effectiveness of reporting and communication of audit findings more effectively to key audiences.
Violet attended on behalf of the Controller and Auditor General and Sita in her role as Director of Communications particularly in her role interacting with the Public Accounts Committee.
